这部电影是根据2015年“6·8”抗洪抢险中，贵定县公安局民警李光进在洪水中救出6名遇险游客后，自己却因水流湍急陷入险境。沿途盘江镇麦董村6名群众得知民警遇险，不顾自身安危纷纷跳入洪水中，展开了10余公里的接力救援，而其中参与营救民的陈开元老人，却因体力不支再也没能回来，这感人的画面谱写了一曲新时期警民鱼水情深的赞歌，演绎了一场感天动地的警民互救的悲壮故事。
